About Mark Nescio

Mark Nescio was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania in 1965 and was first introduced to carpentry by his high school woodshop class. His early projects included tables, bookshelves, and jewelry boxes, but as his passion for woodworking grew so did the complexity of his projects.

After Graduating high school in 1983, he moved to Southern New Jersey to attend college while working as a cook in various restaurants. During college, he continued to explore his passion for carpentry, building furniture for his classmates such as bunk beds and fish tank stands. In 1988, he received his bachelor of arts degree in Photography from Stockton State College.

After graduating college, Mark worked as a freelance photographer for 10 years photographing various events such as weddings, sporting events, and banquets. In 1992, he met his future wife on a ski trip at Pico Mountain and moved to Boston shortly after. While in  Boston, Mark began selling stained glass rooters at craft fairs all over New England, in addition to his photography work.

Throughout these other careers, Mark continued investing in his passion, always working as a freelance carpenter until 1996 when he founded Tailgate Carpentry and Home Repair and became a full-time carpenter. Mark’s previous careers give him a unique perspective and skillset other carpenter’s may not have. Mark’s background in photography enables him to blend his work with the surrounding decor so it complements the aesthetic of your home. Mark’s time spent spent working craft fairs and building his own displays gives him experience designing pieces that are both attractive and functional in residential and commercial settings.  Over the years, as he has gained experience and expertise, he has been able to take on larger, more complex projects and expand the services he offers.
